Ayn Rand on Dirt-Worshippers

Posted by Tom Stelene on June 6, 2008

A brief excerpt on “ecology” from the Ayn Rand Lexicon:

Now observe that in all the propaganda of the ecologists—amidst all their appeals to nature and pleas for “harmony with nature”—there is no discussion of man’s needs and the requirements of his survival. Man is treated as if he were an unnatural phenomenon. Man cannot survive in the kind of state of nature that the ecologists envision—i.e., on the level of sea urchins or polar bears . . .

In order to survive, man has to discover and produce everything he needs, which means that he has to alter his background and adapt it to his needs. Nature has not equipped him for adapting himself to his background in the manner of animals. From the most primitive cultures to the most advanced civilizations, man has had to manufacture things; his well-being depends on his success at production. The lowest human tribe cannot survive without that alleged source of pollution: fire. It is not merely symbolic that fire was the property of the gods which Prometheus brought to man. The ecologists are the new vultures swarming to extinguish that fire.

Environmentalism: A Mass Delusion

Posted by Tom Stelene on October 14, 2007

(This post is imported from Al-Kafir Akbar!)

This is just my first post for today, environmental blog action day : “Our aim is to get people thinking, discussing, questioning and talking about the environment, from every angle, niche, viewpoint and personality.” Some 13,000 blogs are participating in raising environmental awareness to save The Environment; yours truly is the anti-environmentalist stinker who snuck in 🙂

That this society has so succumbed to a delusion is nothing unique, historically speaking. Just because we have modern science and vastly more knowledge than previous societies is no guarantee of infallibility for us. One gap in our knowledge is our failure to understand how we believe in and thus live in un-realities – on a large-scale – like “man-made global warming.” Look at how much of the world in the last century believed in “scientific socialism” – which was a world-wide political, economic, bloody disaster. And it still has its advocates! For people seventy years ago, eugenics was “real” science – widely believed as today’s eco-hysteria – and it led to Nazi extermination camps. Look at any thoroughly religious society – past or present – to see people living by delusions-galore: they see antichrists, messiahs, ends-of-the-world everywhere and all the time, to say nothing of their countless other delusions of lesser significance.

In the past, scientists and the learned believed in studying the un-realities of astrology, alchemy, phrenology, and Lysenkoism, to name a few. “Global warming” will go the way of them. It has many symptoms of a fraudulent belief, like the above mentioned ones. There is little to substantiate it, and its purveyors have a history of distorting facts to fit it and marginalizing opponents.

As some resistance to today’s massive outburst of fear-inspiring, eco-delusion mongering I am happy to help raise awareness of:

  • what a delusion environmentalism is
  • what politically-motivated junk science is behind it
  • how it is a secular religion
  • how it is more destructive collectivism

In order to have lots of intellectual ammo regarding the above, all in one handy location, I rounded up some websites guilty of just such heresy – and then some – against The Environment and its priestly-class. Dive in and Enjoy!
